Dark spots & Melasma

Identify, target, clear.

The skin keeps the memory of everything: accumulated sun, hormonal variations, past inflammation. Pigment spots are not all inevitable, but melasma is a chronic inflammatory condition that calls for a different approach. They have different origins, and that origin determines the suitable treatment.

Our approach

Our medicine of hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is not always treated in the same way. A solar lentigo, a melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation are three distinct mechanisms. Confusing the approaches risks worsening what you set out to correct. At Skincare Agency, the protocol always begins with a precise assessment of your phototype and of the origin of your hyperpigmentation. That is what allows the right tools to be chosen, in the right order.

  1. 01

    Assess

The VISIA 7 assessment maps pigmentation at the surface and in depth. It tells solar and brown spots from melasma, and guides the protocol from the first consultation.

  2. 02

    Treat

Every session targets the mechanism at work. Laser, peel, microneedling: the technologies are selected according to the origin of the spot, your phototype and the depth of action required.

  3. 03

    Maintain

Between treatments, a suitable daily cosmetic routine at home is essential, so as not to undo the results won in the clinic.

Lentigines

Solar lentigines

Lentigines appear with the years and with accumulated sun. Face, hands, décolleté: they settle on the most exposed areas, gradually darken and can multiply. They affect women and men alike, from 40, and reach 90% of the population over time.

Not all recent

90% of people over 40 will develop lentigines. It is not a disease, it is a memory. Every brown spot corresponds to an accumulation of sun, often long ago, that ends up exceeding the skin’s capacity to renew itself normally.

They are flat, well defined, and darken over time. Without treatment they do not disappear. But they respond well, often very well, to the right technologies.

An even tone begins with an assessment

Before choosing a treatment, you have to understand what your skin is expressing. Our consultation includes a full VISIA 7 assessment to identify the origin of your spots precisely and build the suitable protocol.

Melasma

Melasma

Melasma is a hyperpigmenting inflammation of genetic, hormonal or medication-related origin. Medication, pregnancy, contraception, perimenopause, menopause: hormonal variations over-stimulate the melanocytes and create irregular dark patches on the face. It is one of the most complex forms of pigmentation to treat, because it can reach the deep dermis and relapse at the slightest sun exposure.

One pigmentation, several depths

Epidermal melasma sits at the surface: it is brown, visible, and responds well to treatment. Dermal melasma is deeper, bluer, more resistant. Mixed melasma combines the two.

That distinction changes everything about the therapeutic approach. A laser that is too strong, used on a poorly assessed melasma, can make the situation worse. That is why the VISIA 7 assessment always precedes treatment in this case.

Pigmentation belongs to a global strategy

The Elite Longevity programme brings the follow-up of your skin into the long term: combined protocols, regular assessments, personalised pharmaceutical formulations. For results that hold.

Post-inflammatory

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

Acne, an injury, eczema: any inflammation can leave a pigmented mark on the skin.

Those brown or grey macules appear above all on darker phototypes, where the production of reactive melanin is more intense. They sometimes fade on their own, but on skin with a high melanin capital they can persist for months or even years.

Residual pigmented macules after skin inflammation.

The trace after the storm

Acne sometimes leaves more than a depressed scar. It leaves a brown, sometimes red macule that can persist for months on light skin and far longer on darker phototypes, where reactive melanin is naturally more intense.

Those marks are often underestimated when it comes to treatment. They are not only superficial and they do not clear with patience alone.

Post-inflammatory

Regenerating microneedling

  • Regeneration with no thermal aggression
  • Repairing actives infused in depth: vitamin C, succinic acid, tranexamic acid and glutathione
  • Suited to darker phototypes
  • Reduces the residual macule
Microneedling stimulates the natural regeneration of the skin while infusing targeted repairing actives. With no heat, it is particularly suited to phototypes III to VI, which are often the most affected by post-inflammatory pigment after-effects.

Laser IPL Harmony

  • Gold standard
  • Precise targeting of melanin
  • Quick session, no downtime
  • Results visible from the 1st session
  • Anti-inflammatory benefits

The Harmony laser emits targeted light pulses that destroy the melanin concentrated in the melasma. It is the reference for reducing melasma when used "in motion" on light to intermediate phototypes.

Depigmenting HydraFacial

  • Cleansing and treatment in one session
  • Bespoke depigmenting serum
  • No downtime, immediate result
  • Ideal as a background protocol

HydraFacial prepares and treats at the same time. The suction cleanses the skin in depth, then a targeted depigmenting serum of the Britenol type is infused directly onto the active areas. An essential background session before any more intensive protocol.

Vitamin infusion: the well known Cinderella cocktail

  • Overall glow effect
  • Antioxidant support
  • A brighter tone
  • Anti-inflammatory & works against oxidative stress
  • Anti-dark-spot support

The Cinderella cocktail is a vitamin infusion intended for skin with hyperpigmentation. Through its supply of vitamins, antioxidants and supporting nutrients, it accompanies the body’s natural mechanisms of recovery and helps improve the overall brightness of the skin. Its value within an anti-dark-spot strategy rests on background action: antioxidant support, improved radiance, a less clouded tone and better skin vitality. It can be paired with more targeted treatments such as lasers, peels, skinboosters or depigmenting routines to reinforce the overall coherence of the protocol.

Anti-dark-spot cosmetic routine

  • Gradual correction of the tone
  • Daily brightening action
  • Gentle exfoliation
  • Antioxidant support
  • Prevention of pigment recurrence

The anti-dark-spot cosmetic routine we developed at Skincare Agency is intended for skin with solar lentigines, pigment spots or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It combines cleansing, exfoliating, antioxidant and targeted products in order to support the evenness of the tone and the quality of the skin gradually: the Skincare Agency anti-dark-spot cosmetic routine The protocol includes a brightening cleanse with GlowFoamer, gentle exfoliation with LumiPeel or Glow AHA depending on sensitivity, preparation of the tone with GlowSplash, then targeted products such as PigmentRemover with kojic acid, BlemishFix with niacinamide, Radiance Booster with vitamin C or SpotCorrector as a targeted night treatment for brown spots. This cosmetic approach acts as background care: it helps limit the build-up of dead cells, revive radiance, support pigment regulation and visually improve the evenness of the tone. It fits ideally alongside medical-aesthetic protocols such as peels, lasers, skinboosters, HydraFacial or radiance treatments.

To be used daily, with strict sun protection (SunCity SPF50 Tinted or SunKiss SPF50) and regular medical follow-up depending on the type of spots.
Post-inflammatory

Medical LED

  • Cellular photostimulation
  • Calms residual inflammation
  • Extends the effects of the protocol
  • No downtime, all skin types

Medical LED is the systematic complement at the end of a protocol. It speeds up cellular regeneration, calms residual inflammation and amplifies the results of microneedling or Morpheus 8. A gentle session, with no constraints at all.

6 to 8 sessions, alongside the main protocol

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

A lentigo is a localised, round, well defined spot, caused by accumulated sun on exposed areas. Melasma is a diffuse, irregular dark patch, hormonal, genetic or medication-related in origin, appearing mainly on the face; it is a chronic inflammation. The treatment is not the same. Hence the importance of the assessment before any decision.
