THE NORWOOD SCALE HAS DETERMINED SEVEN STAGES
IN THE EVOLUTION OF MEN’S HAIR:
The hair is full with no hair loss. This is typical of men between 20 and 30 years old.
This stage appears as we approach forty, where we notice a slight hair recession and the formation of “M” that appear on the forehead, which becomes noticeable when we comb our hair back.
In men over 50, the M-shape on the forehead is more pronounced and the crown of the hair on the head tends to shrink.
The “M” on the temples becomes even more pronounced and the remaining middle part of the hair also begins to thin and lose density.
The temples are almost bald and the middle band of hair in the middle of the “M” becomes an isolated spot.
The hairless area continues to recede towards the back. The middle band or tuft of hair at the front of the head is completely gone.
- This is the most pronounced stage of baldness.
- At this stage, there is no more hair on the top of the scalp.
- There are only strips left on the sides of the head.
